Hybrid Monte Carlo Without Pseudofermions

چکیده
We introduce a dynamical fermion algorithm which is based on the hybrid Monte Carlo (HMC) algorithm, but without pseudofermions. The molecular dynamics steps in HMC are retained except the derivatives with respect to the gauge fields are calculated with the Z2 noise. The determinant ratios are estimated with the Pad̀e Z2 method. Finally, we use the Kennedy-Kuti linear accept/reject method for the Monte Carlo step which is shown to respect detailed balance. We comment on the comparison of this algorithm with the pseudofermion algorithm.

متن کاملThe PZ method for estimating determinant ratios, with applications
We introduce a new method for estimating determinants or determinant ratios of large matrices, which combines the techniques of Padè approximation with rational functions and Z2 noise estimation of traces of large matrices. The method requires simultaneously solving several matrix equations, which can be conveniently accomplished using the MR method. We include some preliinary results, and indi...
متن کاملMultiple molecular dynamics time-scales in Hybrid Monte Carlo fermion simulations
At this conference, much discussion focussed on the dominant systematic error facing dynamical fermion simulations; the chiral extrapolation. It is proving to be a significant challenge to run Wilson fermion simulations of QCD using the HMC algorithm at light quark masses [1]. The standard implementation of HMC introduces pseudofermion fields to mimic the fermion action, and generates new propo...
متن کاملPadé - Z2 Estimator of Determinants
We introduce the Padé–Z2 (PZ) stochastic estimator for calculating determinants and determinant ratios. The estimator is applied to the calculation of fermion determinants from the two ends of the Hybrid Monte Carlo trajectories with pseudofermions. Our results on the 83 × 12 lattice with Wilson action show that the statistical errors from the stochastic estimator can be reduced by more than an...
متن کاملTopological Zero Modes in Monte Carlo Simulations
We present an improvement of global Metropolis updating steps, the instanton hits, used in a hybrid Monte Carlo simulation of the two-flavor Schwinger model with staggered fermions. These hits are designed to change the topological sector of the gauge field. In order to match these hits to an unquenched simulation with pseudofermions, the approximate zero mode structure of the lattice Dirac ope...
